· Halayda by Sarah Delena White was a good fantasy book. However, it did have its issues. I had the suspicion that this was Sarah Delena White’s first book, and, upon investigation, I found I was correct. In and of itself, the plot of Halayda is interesting. The issues I found with it, though, overrode the plot for me. · The novel’s major flaw is the lack of world-building. White is extremely ambitious in her attempt to create a universe of a human and faerie realm, but she was unable to execute her vision properly. The physical aspects of the world itself was averagely described–in no way did White paint a vivid description. Sarah Delena White was raised by wolves in an alternate dimension. She writes eclectic speculative fiction that reworks mythology with a fine balance of poetry and snark.
